Durable concrete pipe for sewerage upgrade

Project: Milton-Ulladulla Sewerage Scheme

Location: NSW South Coast

Authority: Shoalhaven Water

Project Managers: NSW Dept of Commerce

Construction Contractor: Barclay Mowlem

Concrete Pressure Pipes: Rocla Pipeline Products

Rocla Pipeline Products recently supplied 540 metres of pressure pipe as part of the upgrade of the Milton- Ulladulla Sewerage Scheme on the NSW South Coast.

The 750mm diameter steel-reinforced concrete pressure pipes supplied by Rocla were used in a reclaimed water main from a new treatment plant to an existing main.

Large diameter pipes were required because of the flat grade of the first 500 metres of the 2-kilometre reclaimed water main.

Included in the upgrade is a new wastewater pumping station, a rising main to connect the pump station to a new secondary wastewater treatment plant, a reclaimed water main from the treatment plant to the existing main leading to the ocean release, and a 350-metre extension of the ocean release to an offshore rock shelf.

Shoalhaven City Council's Shoalhaven Water Group appointed the NSW Department of Commerce as project managers for the upgrade, which will accommodate growth in the area for up to 30 years.

Rocla also supplied CPOŽ entry pits, precast sewer maintenance holes and pump station components to the project.
